The Brooks Family

After moving from Las Vegas to Mio, Michigan, the Brooks family found Personal Ponies fromJordan and Eeyore (hand over mouth to keep black flies out). an article in the Bay City Times. They never get that paper, but for some reason Bill picked one up that day and they read about Lady and Eeyore and Personal Ponies in Roscommon, about 30 miles from their home. Elaine contacted Vickie Sheathelm and so the story begins.

The Brooks family consists of 11 children, seven of them adopted, with special needs. They have also been a foster family to over 150 children. They moved to Michigan to be closer to Bill’s family. They found some property right next the property Bill grew up on. Bill got plans ready for a barn and pens for the spring of 2003. They hoped to have many animals to share with neighborhood children, along with Personal Ponies. They were looking forward to their own ponies and promoting the program.

Elaine emailed Vickie to let her know that Bill had passed away. They had lost their "Rock." The family was devastated, especially the twins. They could sure use some pony magic in their lives!

John and Lady (winter coat is black fly protection). After getting the Personal Ponies gear in motion, it was decided that Lady and Eeyore would go live with the Brooks Family. Bill had met them and fell in love with them. Now the Brooks Family had a project: build a stall in their barn and an outside pen for Lady and Eeyore. Now everyone had something to smile about again and something to look forward to. Within two days, Lady and Eeyore were delivered to their new home. Everyone got a chance to hug and lead them around, except the twins. They were in school. Vickie left with the truck and trailer so the twins could be surprised.

They couldn’t wait to surprise the twins at the house, so everyone started down the driveway with Lady and Eeyore. Eeyore was dragging Elaine most of the way, so John took over and Eeyore never once left his side or tugged once. The twins were very excited. Lady and Eeyore didn’t get much sleep that night, someone was checking on them every 20 minutes.

Elaine wrote the next day, "I am sure you know this, but Lady and Eeyore are like a gift from Heaven for the kids, and me too. It is hard to be sad when those big eyes look at you, and to see the kids so happy does me tons of good."

Another day of Pony Magic in Michigan!
