Mary Krajewski has a long
connection with the UK Shetland pony. Her Great, Great, Great
Grandfather, John McRorie, worked and lived at the Old Mounkland
Mines in Lanark, Scotland. Her Great Grandfather, James
Stewart McRorie, also worked in the Old Mounkland Mines in Scotland,
then moved to Bay City, Michigan, to work in the coal mines
there. But the reason she became involved with Personal
Ponies, is her Grandfather, Charles Henry McRorie. He was a
teacher, a farmer, and a child with a great disability. At the
age of 2 years old, while following his older sibling to the store,
he sat on the train track and was run over by the train. This
resulted in the loss of both feet. By the time the doctor
arrived at the tracks, he was pronounced dead. The story goes
on that a Black Healing Lady was there with her pony and cart and
said, "By God, that boy is not dead!" and swooped him up. She
took him home and with love, nursed him back to health. Mary's
Grandfather was often seen carried around on a small pony until he
went back to live with his family.
Mary lives in North
Branch, Michigan, and is a Community Director for that area.
She will be active in parades, festivals, and fund raising
events. She has two ponies, Bobby and Timmy, who will be
helping her promote the Personal Ponies program.
